I would have filed for bankruptcy if I was not adviced for debt consolitdation plans by Debt Management firm ClearDebt. When my business pushed me into tough times I was not much worried about the failure but was worried about debt consolidation and thus getting relieved of the pains of debt. ClearDebt gave me the best debt consolidation idea of going for Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA). The process looked very simple for me and IVA allows me to settle a revalued debt amount after all the negotiations in a span of 3 to 5 years. I was happy that this debt consolidation plan is sure to save me my properties from being taken away which would have happened if I had applied for bankruptcy.
I know bankruptcy means it would have been the end of everything and so debt consolidation using the IVA option seemed to be better for me. I found that ClearDebt negotiated a best debt consolidation deal for me where I was asked to pay an affordable monthly installment for 4 years to come out of my debts. Moreover they were successful in freezing further interest on the principle amount. The charge for debt consolidation services by ClearDebt is recovered from the installment paid and this reduced my burden very much.

Why do we have a shadow?

Rays of light, from the Sun or artificial light, spread equally in all directions. When these rays of light meet a solid object, they cannot pass through it. So they come to a standstill and the area behind the object is unlit. As our bodies do not let light through, we have a dark area behind us on the¬ ground. This is called a shadow. When we move” this dark area is always with us. This is why the shadow seems to move with us.
Of course, if we are walking with the light behind us, the shadow will be in front.
Perhaps you have played a game with your friends where you run and try to ‘catch’ the shadows of your friends.

Is it possible for people who are born deaf to learn to talk to others?

Deaf and dumb, what a sad affliction to be unable to communicate with your fellow human being! The ears of a deaf person do not transmit any vibrations. Therefore it is impossible for the larynx to copy sounds.
Today, deaf-and-dumb people are trained to use their hands to feel vibrations coming from a person’s throat or from musical instruments.
Deaf people can also be trained to produce vibrations, in the same way, from the laiynx and mouth. The sounds they utter are vastly improved when the sound waves are shown on an electronic device, which looks like a television set. By looking at the screen, the deaf person can compare the sound waves he makes with the sound waves he is supposed to make. He can then correct his faults. In reality, a well-trained deaf person has a normal voice. But this training calls for much work, whilst learning to lip-read at the same time.
Doctors pay great attention to the sound training of young babies with hearing problems. Poor hearing corrected early can avoid retarded development. A child with normal hearing recognizes and’, understands sounds at several weeks old.

Why do we have wax in our ears?

Wax is deposited in our ear by special glands to prevent dust and similar foreign material from entering.
The part of the ear that we can see as a projecting flap on the side of the head is called the auricle. Leading from it is a short tunnel, the external auditory meatus or earhole, which is closed at its inner end by a thin membrane called the ear-drum, separating it from the inner ear.
This tunnel is lined with skin which, especially in men, carries hair and sebaceous glands, that is glands which produce an oily substance called sebum. The skin also contains specialized sweat glands (ceruminous glands), which secrete the brownish yellow wax .
Sometimes the glands secrete too much wax, and then it may collect in the external auditory meatus and deaden the hearing. As the ear is such a delicate instrument, the excess wax should be removed with a syringe by a doctor, although it can sometimes be softened by the application of warmed oil.

Why are people scared of bats?

These winged mammals, who sleep during the day and are active at night, have always had the reputation for being evil, even though most of them are really quite harmless.
But there is one American variety which does drink blood. and attacks animals and men. This bat has well-developed incisor teeth which it uses to puncture the skin of the victim, and then it licks the blood which flows from the’ wound. The victim does not feel this.
‘Natives of South America, who are used to sleeping out in the open, have to wrap themselves up in their ponchos to protect themselves against attacks by these bats.

What will your future be like? Some people think you can find out by studying the stars. People who study the stars and try to tell the future by them are called astrologers.
The first astrologers lived long ago. They were very important people. Kings came to them to find out when to go to war. The astrologers gave advice on all important questions. Astrologers split up the sky into twelve areas or houses. They gave each house a sign. These signs are called the signs of the zodiac.

Why do sheep always seem to be chewing?

Nature has given this characteristic to animals such as sheep who, while they are grazing, are watched by carnivores such as wolves and eagles. Only when they are safe in their pens do they actually chew the food they have eaten.
All ruminating animals (sheep, goats and cows, for example) have a different organic structure from other animals. Their stomachs are divided into four compartments, and when the animal grazes, the grass is swallowed almost whole and is deposited in the belly, the first of the stomachs. It undergoes a first digestion there, then it is returned to the mouth where it is chewed, and then it goes to the other three stomachs. It is quite common to find sheep lying on the ground and chewing in this manner, and this is known as ‘chewing the cud’.

Why do we graft trees?

Some trees produce a large quantity of excellent fruits, but the tree itself may not be very strong. In this case, a branch from the fruit tree can be grafted onto the trunk of another, stronger tree. This is done by placing the branch in a prepared split in the trunk of the stronger tree. In time, the branch will grow and produce other branches, and eventually fruit. This way, the best qualities of both trees are combined. Grafting is also done to reproduce trees that have become rare or diseased.
Why do people put manure on the ground?

If land is being used all the time for growing crops and vegetables, the minerals in the soil get used up and need replacing. So farmers and gardeners put fertiliser on the ground to replenish the soil with all the nutrients plants need.
There are two types of fertiliser, mineral and organic. The mineral fertilisers are manufactured and can be bought. The organic fertilisers are made of plant matter and animal dung, built up over a period of time into a manure heap. Farmers spread this manure onto the earth.
Animal dung is waste products from digested food and contains nutrients which are easily absorbed through the roots of plants. It is best to spread it over the ground when it is fresh so that none of the nutritional value is lost. Sometimes the manure is dampened so that it soaks into the ground more quickly and easily.

What makes smoke go up a chimney?

There is a basic law of physics called convection, which states that hot air always rises. Chimneys are tall and narrow to help convection to happen quickly. The rire at the bottom of the chimney produces heat. The heat rises, pulling the smoke up the chimney with it. This draws in air and fresh oxygen beneath the fire, which helps the fire burn well. Before houses had chimneys, the living spaces were very smoky.

Bronze is an alloy, made from a mixture of copper and tin. The mixture can be varied in its proportions to make a hard or a tough bronze.
It had been known in Asia, the Middle East and Europe for many centuries, but in Central and South America its Use was less widespread. It was also used with especial skill for a number of centuries in Benin in West Africa. Works of art in bronze have been preserved from this period.

Why could we sail to the North Pole but not to the South Pole?

A journey by sea to the North Pole with an ice-breaking ship of sufficient strength and large amounts of explosivf3s is possible in theory, although it has never been achieved.
But the South Pole is in the middle of a great land mass, the continent of Antarctica. This uninhabited land surface varies from basins more than 8,000 feet below sea level to mountains well over 13,000 feet high.
The South Pole was first reached, after a 53-day march, by a Norwegian party led by Raold Amundsen, in December 1911. Amundsen’s expedition traveled on foot and on sledges drawn by dogs. It beat Captain Robert Scott’s party by a month.
An American party first reached the North Pole, but there is no absolute proof which one it was. The honor is most often given to the team led by Robert E.Peary who reached the Pole on April 6, 1909. Claims that Dr. F.A. Cook reached the spot with two Eskimos, two sledges and 26 dogs in April, 1908 are now generally doubted.

What is dew?

Dew is the result of condensation on the surface of the earth. At night the earth sometimes becomes colder than the air, and when water vapor in the air touches leaves and other objects on the earth’s cold surface in the early hours of the morning, it condenses to form “dew fall”. If the earth is very cold the vapor freezes and hoar frost, instead of dew, is formed.
If, on the other hand, water vapor rising from the earth meets a leaf colder than itself, it will condense to form a different kind of dew fall.

How did the cowbird get its name?

The cowbird got its name because of its habit of following the huge herds of buffalo that once roamed the plains of North America, feeding on the many insects that were disturbed by the buffaloes’ hoofs.
It was also known as the buffalo bird. Now that the herds of buffalo are no more, the cowbirds fly in great flocks, descending on fields of ripening corn or rice and completely stripping acres of land, making them very unpopular with farmers. Cowbirds do not build a nest, but the female lays her single egg in the nest of another bird, hoping that the egg will be incubated (and the chick reared) by the unwitting foster-mother.
